Audition
Frequently Asked
Questions
How many nights
of auditions do
we need to be
at?
You will only
need to be at
one night of
auditions.
You may also be
asked to return
for callbacks on
June 1st.
You will be
either told
during your
audition or
called if that
is the case.
When are
rehearsals?
Rehearsals dates
start June 6th.
They typically
begin at 7pm and
can run until
10:30pm
Monday-Friday.
During the first
few weeks
rehearsals will
most likely end
sooner.
There are
rehearsals
scheduled for
some weekends.
During these
weekends you may
be scheduled to
run technical,
dress rehearsal,
sound checks,
orchestra sing
thru, costume
fittings, and
other things. A
more specific
breakdown of who
is scheduled for
each day will be
given out the
first night of
rehearsal. Check
back
here for a
tentative
rehearsal
schedule.
Do we need to
make an
appointment, or
just come at
7:00 to one of
the three
auditions?
There is no need
to make an
appointment.
Just arrive at 7:00.
We have a
(family vacation
or camp or
wedding) planned
during
rehearsals, will
this keep me
from getting
cast in the
show?
If you can avoid
any schedule
conflicts,
please do.
It really
depends on if
the role you are
auditioning for,
the time of the
event, the
length of your
absence.
The earlier in
rehearsals, the
more likely it
is that we can
accommodate a
scheduling
conflict.
Please note
that conflicts
are not allowed
the last two
weeks of
rehearsals.
What are
auditions like?
Fun! If
this is your
first time,
don't worry, we
will do
everything we
can to make you
succeed and feel
comfortable.
You will arrive
at the audition
dressed to move
(with
comfortable
shoes), with
song prepared,
and knowing any
schedule
conflicts.
You then check
in at the
audition table.
You will be
given an
audition form to
fill out and a
rehearsal
schedule to look
over. If
you do not have
a current
picture with
you, one will be
taken of you.
After your forms
are filled out
you can have a
seat until your
name is called.
You will called
to go in and
sing for the
music director
and the
director, you
may then be
asked to read a
short scene from
the show.
You will also be
called to go in
and dance in a
different room
with the
choreographer,
you do not need
to have a
prepared dance,
the
choreographer
will be teaching
you some basic
dance steps.
If you have more
dance
experience, you
may be shown a
routine with
greater
difficulty.
The important
thing to
remember is to
relax and be
yourself.
